Trinidad ist ein historisches, verschlafenes Städtchen an der Südküste in der Provinz Sancti Spíritus. Neben den historischem Stadtkern ist die Discothek "La Cueva" eines der Attraktionen: Es handelt sich um eine als Tanzsaal ausgebaute Tropfsteinhöhle.
Der Strand "Playa Ancán" ist schnell mit einem Auto / Taxi zu erreichen.
La Villa Santísima de Trinidad wurde im Jahre 1514 von Diego Velázquez gegründet; dieser Ort lag jedoch zunächst an der Bucht von Cienfuegos. Dem heutigen 50 km weiter östlich gelegenen Standort hatte Velázquez ursprünglich den Namen Manzanilla (Pfefferminze) gegeben; aber als man hier Gold fand, wo auch viele Indokubaner lebten, die man als Arbeitskräfte zu nutzen gedachte, verlegte man gleich den ganzen Ort Trinidad hierher.
Seit 1998 ist die Stadt gemeinsam mit den 20 km außerhalb liegenden Zuckerrohrplantagen von Valle de los Ingenios Welterbe der UNESCO.
Eine der größten Touristenattraktionen ist sicherlich der Plaza Mayor, dessen Flair noch heute an die Kolonialzeit erinnert. Alle bedeutenden Museen sind rund um den Plaza Mayor zu finden.
Bekannt bei Touristen für seine erfrischenden Getränke ist das Lokal La Canchánchara mit dessen gleichnamigen Getränk.
